Team of Prof. Chen Xiang and Prof. Yin Mingzhu Publishes a Paper Revealing a New Pattern about Personalized Liver Injury in COVID-19 Patients

Recently, the team of Professor Chen Xiang and Professor Yin Mingzhu from the Department of Dermatology at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Hunan Key Laboratory of Skin Cancer and Psoriasis and Hunan Engineering Research Center of Skin Health and Diseases published a paper about COVID-19 entitledCharacteristics of pregnant COVID-19 patients with liver injuryon the renownedJournal of Hepatology(real-time IF: 20.60). Xiangya Hospital is the affiliation of both the first author, post-doctoral researcher Deng Guangtong, and the corresponding authors including Professor Chen Xiang and Professor Yin Mingzhu.

According to the paper, liver injury in general patients with COVID-19 is rare. By cooperating with Wuhan Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the team of Professor Chen Xiang and Professor Yin Mingzhu found that the prevalence of liver injury in pregnant COVID-19 patients was 29.7%, and liver injury and inflammatory markers were positively correlated. The results showed that it is necessary to monitor liver injury of pregnant patients so as to evaluate their liver function.

The team of Professor Chen Xiang and Professor Yin Mingzhu has long been committed to the research on multi-omics molecular classification and personalized medicine of (skin) diseases.
